A
Acrim A distant, technologically advanced world. Homeworld of the tyrant Rancor and the ancient Menov.
A.S.F. The first and most prominent interstellar trade organization in the galaxy. Early space pioneers like the legendary Captain Howe blazed new paths between worlds and extablished political and trade relations that form the framework of the galactic community today. Originally named "Allied Shipping and Freight," the A.S.F. profited greatly from being the only major shipping company in the galaxy. This position of power would also force the A.S.F. to adopt a more governing role in interstellar trade, becoming the "Alliance Shipping Federation" reflecting the new alliance of planetary governments formed by the A.S.F.'s network. Eventually the A.S.F. held such dominance over the spaceways that the member worlds would look to them for military protection as well. Pirates and foreign invaders were always a problem, and the A.S.F. was the only galaxy-spanning organization with the resources to deal with them. This made the A.S.F. into what it is today, the lifeblood of the galactic union, policing the spaceways and bringing the free peoples of the galaxy together.
Air Rod A general term for a sporty, fun-to-drive hovercraft or stratocar.
Arachnia A peaceful planet inhabited predominantly by arachnid farmers. Long ago the arachnids were a much more war-like race, but they abandoned the destructive ways of the past in favor of simpler life. Most arachnids are wary of off-worlders and do not leave their homeworld for their entire lives. One rare exception would be the A.S.F.'s Roman Din Cara. Though most of his people do not use their abilities for fighting, Roman's natural arachnid physiology makes him a phenomenal warrior.
Arak-Thul Homeworld to a highly advanced warrior race that has adopted a ritual of pitting national champions against each other in mortal combat to decide international disputes. The practice saved the lives of countless citizens over the centuries, but when Rancor invaded, there were simply too few soldiers to fight back. However, the Arak-Thul people saw wisdom in willfully joining a stronger enemy, and now proudly serve the tyrant in his quest foe ultimate power. Arak-Thul warrior nobles are easily identified by their highly sophisticated armor that often conceals numerous energy-based weapons.
B
Betara One of many civilized worlds that would fall to Rancor on his path to Mandit. Home to a tall, horned species to which the late Lord Ills belonged.
C
Civil War See Manditian Civil War
D
Dag A slang term usually used to express anger or frustration. "Dag it!"
E
Energy Snare Combat device used to capture energy discharge and reflect it back onto the source. Primarily used to neutralize enemy energy-based weaponry.
F
G
Goldenrod Located on the coast of the Bay of Indio, Goldenrod was constructed as a hub for all manditian species to come together in the spirit of unity. Now the largest metropolis on Mandit, Goldenrod is home to numerous species, from Mandit and from other planets. It is the home base of the A.S.F. While the different regions retain their sovereignty over their own lands (or oceans as the case may be) Goldenrod serves as a common ground for world leaders to meet and discuss global issues.
Guardian The Guardian Project was to have been a next-generation automaton soldier for the A.S.F. Replacing live personnel with high-powered androids would have saved a lot of lives, but resources had to be diverted to more immediate concerns when Rancor's fleet encroached on Manditian space. The project has been suspended indefinitely.
H
I
Infinite Trinity Infinite Trinity denotes both the three fragments of an ancient weapon of unimaginable power, and the three immortal guardians who have sworn to protect them.
J
K
Krogg The harsh, desert planet Krogg was in bad shape when Rancor arrived. Overpopulation coupled with scarce resources had broken society down nearly to anarchy. A once prosperous people had descended to mob-rule. It was almost a blessing when Rancor invaded. He met almost no opposition, and several of Krogg's leaders eagerly surrendered in exchange for positions in the Ranconian military.
L
Landanon A remote planet previously inhabited by Dracio and his draconian kinsmen. Its civilization was wiped out by Rancor during his quest for the Infinite Trinity.
M
Mandit The only planet orbiting the star that many believe to be the center of the Universe. The planet is vast and supports an unusually diverse population of indigenous sentient species.
Manditian Civil War Many wars have scarred the history of Mandit, but the war generally known as "The Civil War" was fought between the surface-dwellers and the ocean-dwelling Thalassians. Depending on who you ask, you will get any of a large number of reasons why the war began, but it was most likely the result of disputes over resources in coastal and ocean shelf areas, historically disputed territory between land and deep sea. The A.S.F. coordinated most of the surface forces, and the war eventually ended in a truce, with each side accepting certain concessions. But some refused to accept the cease-fire, and pockets of rogue militia still show up now and then to terrorize local enemies.
N
Nano-Reconstruction One of many medical breakthroughs resulting from the interstellar technology sharing efforts of the A.S.F. Nano-Reconstruction uses thousands of microscopic robots to repair damaged body parts faster than the natural healing process ever could. The practice has greatly increased the average lifespan. A.S.F. troops are injected with Nanobots that can automatically perform small reconstructions in the field. This practice keeps troops healthy and combat-ready.
Ninter A mysterious world inhabited by telepathic flying creatures. When Rancor's fleet arrived, the Ninters seemed to already know they were coming, and joined the Ranconians freely. Ninters in service to Rancor are often used for espionage, interrogation and brainwashing, but their own true plans and motives remain mysterious.
O
Oruda Distant planet Oruda is home to a primitive race of hulking beast-like warrior tribes. The beligerent nature of Oruda's people have kept the clans in constant war, and has probably held back the intellectual development of the species. Thousands of Orudas were captured and assimilated into Rancor's army, and are now used as brutal first-wave shock troops. Their extremely strong bodies are covered with a very hard, natural bone armor that make them impervious to small arms fire. The mere sight of an oncoming stampede of Orudas has been known to break an enemy defense before a single shot had been fired.
P
Pengi A porcine race of treacherous pirates exiled from Mandit long ago as punishment for repeated transgressions against peaceful peoples. As a whole, the race is known to be untrustworthy and devious. Now scattered throughout the galaxy, spacefaring traders and military vessels alike are often attacked by Pengi raids looking for foodstuffs, weapons and valuables.
Primordials The common name for the Manditian dinosaur population. Ruled by an ancient dynasty, the Primordials are very spiritual and retain many of their ancient tribal ways, rejecting many of the technological advances of the interplanetary age. There are exceptions of course, Bronto Power, Lex Rampage and Ronda Enriquez to name a few. Generally the largest land-dwelling Manditians, the Primoridals often require special treatment outside of their own kingdom. Several establishments in Goldenrod with extra large doors, rooms and fixtures are considered "dino-friendly."

S
Smart Fiber Circuit-laced, self-repairing protective gear worn by A.S.F. military personnel. The outer surface of the gear is sensitive to incoming projectiles and is able to harden in a millisecond to resist the impact. Microcircuitry is also able to change color, and absorb and dissipate small-arms energy fire.
T
Thalassian The common name for all dwellers of the seas of Mandit. Also refers to the most prominent civilization of the deep.
U
V
Vilithis Yet another of Rancor's conquests, Vilithis was home to his consort, Stygian, until she betrayed her family and her people to the invading Ranconians. Vilithians are a somewhat insectoid race with compound eyes and poison-stingers on the end of their tails.
W
Wavestream A focused beam of energy used to convey information and communications. Wide-area wavestreams carry daily information to citizens homes, while high-energy, ultra-focused wavestreams can fire communications across the stars. These high-energy transmissions are extremely dangerous and must be sent and received with specialized equipment, and only across clear space.
